EL Education has partnered with select professional learning providers through a philanthropically-funded pilot certification program designed to build knowledge around the content, structure, and intent of the EL Education K-5 Language Arts curriculum. In the final phase of the program, participants from each partner organization demonstrated expertise in facilitating curriculum-aligned professional learning in a real-world context.

Illustrative Mathematics: Professional Learning certified by Illustrative Mathematics is delivered through our IM Certified Facilitators, who undergo a rigorous qualification and training process to gain mastery in delivering impactful professional learning experiences based on the author's intent. Zearn's Certified Advisors are expert professional learning coaches that work side-by-side with district and school leaders to engage in cycles of planning, observation, data analysis, and coaching throughout Zearn Math implementation. What is a high-quality curriculum?

What is a high-quality curriculum?

Rivet defines HQIM in ELA, Math, and Science as those rated 'Meets Expectations' on EdReports in all grade levels for their grade band (K–2, 3–5, 6–8, 9–12).

Rivet also defines HQIM in science as those that are rated 'High Quality NGSS Design' or 'High Quality NGSS Design if Improved' on the EQuIP rubric and have at least two units per grade band.

If your curriculum is not listed, then it does not meet these criteria or has not been reviewed to date.

Why is this important?

Why is this important?

The purpose of the Guide is to support educators in part by focusing district demand on services that are most likely to lead to the adoption and strong implementation of HQIM. By highlighting the type of clients PL providers are best designed to serve, schools and school systems can evaluate whether a particular provider would be a good fit for them.

How we build district capacity for curriculum implementation

Our PL for instructional leaders provides resources to support teacher onboarding, collaborative planning, and feedback and coaching. The IM Learning Lab supports districts in planning, iterating, and evaluating implementation strategies. The Collaborative Measurement Program brings together district leaders to study IM's measurement tools to drive improvement and to share lessons learned. The IM Math Leaders Forum meets monthly to discuss how to support teachers with implementation and reflect on the impact of shared strategies.

Why is this important?

Why is this important?

It is important for PL providers to have a gradual release plan with the schools and districts they work with. This response highlights how this provider builds capacity within a school system to effectively support the implementation of high-quality curriculum.

How we collaborate with other partners

IM collaborated with Partnership for LA Schools (PLAS) to support LAUSD's implementation of the IM K-5 Math beta pilot and IM 6–8 Math during the pandemic. Our collaboration consisted of regular meetings with transformation leaders to understand goals and needs, align on best practices such as culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, get teacher feedback on the curriculum and digital platform, and develop a customized PL pathway for teachers and leaders.

Why is this important?

Why is this important?

School systems often struggle to find cohesion when managing multiple professional learning partners who have different objectives and visions of success around high-quality curriculum. This response highlights the collaborative partnerships that this provider engages in to promote alignment of professional learning services within a district or system.

How we confront racism

Our PL currently does not directly address the ways racism operates in schools. However, our curriculum incorporates supports for culturally responsive pedagogy with the goal of disrupting patterns of inequity and we are currently revising our PL to make these supports more explicit to teachers. Both our curriculum and PL currently invite teachers to reflect on their beliefs, and make explicit the assumption that all students deserve access to grade-level mathematics and opportunities to explore mathematics and have their thinking valued.

Why is this important?

Why is this important?

Implicit racism plays a major role in perpetuating achievement gaps in classrooms across the country. Rivet is committed to dismantling racism by connecting educators with professional learning partners who confront implicit racism through culturally responsive services that support teachers in providing high quality instruction to all students every day.
